I’ve always been interested in style, fashion and interiors – I worked in the furniture business for many years and I love working with furniture and fabrics and making them work in a domestic context. Which is why when my partner Paul and I made the decision to sell our home in Leeds and move to the Dales to launch a holiday property business I was really excited about the prospect of renovating some beautiful Dales properties.
We started with ‘Evergreen’ a gorgeous cottage in Richmond that had been inherited from Paul’s mother. We refurbished the cottage and then we bought our own holiday cottage in Middleham and have since purchased a cottage in the beautiful village of East Witton which we’ve renovated and are now renting out. We’ve really fallen in love with the Yorkshire Dales and love living and working here (although Paul, who is a property developer, still commutes to Leeds)

I tend not to make our properties look too ‘cottagey’ – I prefer a good dose of glamour and I love to mix old and new pieces of furniture to create an elegant and glamorous atmosphere. I like to mix different textures (I’m a big fan of velvet) to create a grown up and luxurious overall effect, and I always pay a lot of attention to lighting. The feedback I’ve had from guests who stay in our cottages has been really positive, which is what I always hoped for – I never wanted the cottages to be just a home from home for guests, I want them to come and stay and look at the interiors and go ‘wow, I wouldn’t have thought of doing that’ – I hope that when people stay with us they can take something with them to inspire them in their own homes!
For me it’s all about personal touches – all the things you have at home like wi-fi, a really comfortable mattress and a good shower. We provide a welcome hamper for guests, packed with local produce, along with a supply of logs for the wood burning stove. I always make sure that we’re on hand 24/7 to deal with any issues that guests might have. I want our guests not to just be happy to stay here, but to be delighted to stay here. I want everything to be 110% right! We look forward to welcoming you!
